The past and the present of Ciukci KennelsSharon Osharow Kristari Siberians, 2011. február 28., 7:22
This is for the Siberian community throughout the world. I am Sharon Osharow, and I’m sure most of you know me from Kristari Siberians. I would like to take a few minutes to tell you what I know and a bit of history of my friendship and dealings with Joaquin Guardiola of Ciukci Siberians in Spain. I have written this in response the post that Joaquin posted on his wall on February 24 2011. You can see a copy of that post at the bottom of this note.

Joaquin came to me many years ago to ask about purchasing dogs to build a kennel of great dogs in Spain. He had a goal in mind and said he had the money to buy the best. We spoke a lot and I liked him very much. I thought he was really trying to develop good dogs for himself and to build his reputation as a reputable breeder of Siberian Huskies. I had a few of my friends tell me not to sell to him because he kept talking about how much money he had to spend but I chose to sell to him because I believed he was a good person and wanted to do well for the breed.

Over a period of time Joaquin purchased several dogs from me including Ch. Kristari’s Spectator, Ch. Kristari’s Miss FireO Tahluu, Ch. Kristari’s Solocha Miss Doubtfire, Ch. Kristari’s Spice is Nice and other champions and non-champions. Joaquin at that time was going to all the dog shows and doing very well with my dogs. He continued to purchase some other dogs from me as well as purchasing top dogs from Innisfree and Karnovanda. He eventually branched out to other kennels also. Joaquin came to the US and stayed with me and also came to our National Specialty. We had a great time and we had become very good friends.

Our friendship was great until Joaquin did not honor 2 agreements we had. Firstly a bitch I sold him named Kristari’s Red Wolfe had been sent as a puppy. This is a bitch who Joaquin told me her tail had gone bad at a young age and he could not bred or show her, so I told him to place her in a pet home and gave him the option of a replacement or he could take the cost off another bitch he wanted to purchase at the time. Joaquin decided on the reduced price option. So I assumed that Red Wolfe was spayed and placed in a pet home. I learned later that she had been bred as people overseas contacted me to ask questions about show puppies they had out of her. Their puppies were having bad tails and they were asking me where this came from. I explained the situation about Red Wolfe and I was told when the people asked Joaquin about the bad tails he insisted he didn’t know where it was from.

Secondly we had an agreement on another bitch I had sold him, Ch. Kristari’s Solocha Ms Doubtfire. I gave two options for selling her…either pay for her a set price or pay less and send her back to me for 2 litters after he had the first litter. We agreed that he would purchase her for a lesser price and that after he had the first litter, she would come back to me for 2 litters. He argued with me later that he only owed me 1 litter even after we had our agreement in writing. After he had bred her he refused to send her back to me at all. At that point we stopped all correspondence.

A long time passed before he contacted me again as he wanted to purchase another dog. I still felt betrayed by him and told him that. We did end up sorting things out and I decided to give him a second chance because he cared for the dogs and did well with them. In 2007 he asked to buy Ch. Kristari’s Joker’s Wild. One stipulation I made with Joaquin was that Joker must live in the house as he was raised as a house dog and he agreed. We agreed on a price. When he sent me the money it was only a partial payment. He told me that he expected to sell his house and that he would send the rest as soon as his house sold. I asked how long it would take and he told me he had someone interested but nothing official at that time. He told me he didn’t think it would take that long though. So I shipped Joker to him and told him papers would not be sent until the balance was paid. We agreed that he would show him in my name and no litters could be registered until he was paid in full. Months went by and constantly I was told the housing market was not good but he was still trying. At times he would tell me it was happening soon, then it never happened. . So after more than 1 year I made him an offer, to return Joker to me and I would sign any stud papers as Joker had already been bred to a couple bitches without my approval and Joaquin had puppies from him. He could recoup the deposit he paid me by selling the puppies. He would not agree. I told him he could make monthly payments but still he said he could not afford to do that. So at that time I knew he had problems with money. However also I heard he was buying more dogs from other breeders which upset me. Then I heard he was buying horses.

So then I wait again…and again…and again and more excuses for no payment. Next he told me that he was getting a loan from the bank for opening up a new business and could pay me with extra money from the loan. No payment existed. At that time Ola (Alexandra) was working with him also and most of the time she would answer my emails as he would not. Then I heard as well as dogs he had purchased from other breeders had not been paid for yet.

After Joaquin moved a couple of years ago, I started hearing a couple of things from other breeders around the world and puppy buyers about people that were owed puppies and money etc. Then in the last 6 months it started getting worse once Joaquin was on his own after Ola left him. I started to hear all sorts of horror stories from people, not about money but more importantly about receiving dogs in bad condition and with disease, even puppies and adults dying in his kennel. Many people around the world contacted me about this. I was worried about all the dogs after hearing this and needed to see for myself.

I went to Mallorca and was hoping that everything I heard was exaggerated and things were not that bad. I arrived and was let in by the owner of the property as Joaquin does not own that property where his dogs live but rents it. The owner told me things were horrible there and that I should take as many dogs as I could. I told him I only had legal right to take my dog that I still own even though two of my other dogs was there and it broke my heart to leave them in those conditions. I did see one of my other dogs, Lacey, who had recently had a litter but I did not see Stoli.

A friend came with me and we were both horrified at the sight and the smell. It was a cold day there and had rained the day before. I really wanted to let all the dogs out for awhile and give them some loving but I could not legally do that. All the runs had standing water, mud and dog feces in them and dogs were filthy and had coats so tangled and skin with sores. I looked for Joker and finally found him in with one other dog in a run full of mud. The owner of the property let him out for me and he was so excited to see me. We took photos and videos as I was sure nobody would believe this top kennel in Spain would leave dogs in this condition. I was appalled!!!

I saw a little black puppy in a kennel with a couple adult dogs and the puppy (maybe 8-10 weeks) was extremely scared. I saw a litter of puppies on a concrete bench that if they fell off would fall either onto a cement slab or a pit of mud and feces. The water standing in the kennels was green (this does not happen from rain only 1, 2 or 3 days before) and there were no water buckets. Many of the runs had a square trough for water and the water was either brown or black. It was all beyond belief! The worst though was the very old bitch that could barely walk, her coat was drenched and tangled and I saw many sores on her skin. She strained to get up to come to me and I could see it was painful for her. I just wanted to cry.

At this point I was angry….so angry that someone would keep there dogs in this condition. So angry that my one time friend had betrayed my trust in caring for my dogs. I then heard that he had no kennel help and he did not even come to the kennel every day to feed, clean and water the dogs, sometimes it would be more than one day between visits. I had heard before that he called a friend of mine in Europe for money to feed the dogs, which my friend sent him. It was obvious when I was there that the dog runs had not been cleaned for some time. This is not a situation of going to a kennel in the morning before someone has cleaned them as there was one run with dogs in it that there was so much feces in it that they had turned white and moldy from time.

It was then that I decided that Joaquin had lost his sense of right and wrong and was so overwhelmed with so I needed to tell the story to people….to stop him from sending unhealthy puppies and dogs and to help the poor dogs there that are suffering. It was even harder to leave my other dogs there. I felt so guilty for selling them to him. I had heard all my other dogs were already dead. I looked for my dog Stoli but didn’t see him so am not sure if he is dead or not. He is only 8 years old.

So this is my story…from once great friends to the state we are in now. I am not jealous or envious of his success and I am appalled and disgusted that the kennels were in this state of filth as that does not cost him anything but his time to clean them. I am not trying say Joaquin is a bad person and does not love his dogs, but just trying to help the dogs. These are the dogs that gave him such pride and made Ciukci one of the best names in Europe..and this is how they are treated??? IT IS NOT RIGHT!!!

We all have been hit with bad economic times and have had to make sacrifices, including myself. As a breeder we have to be honest with ourselves as to how many dogs we can care for properly. Situations change and we all need to do what is best for the dogs..

Joaquin, if you are reading this, as I’m sure you are please believe me that I am not writing this to destroy you but in fact just trying to help the dogs. If you cannot afford to keep the amount of dogs you have please let some of them go to people who will give them a wonderful home and take care of them properly. The Siberian community is happy to help. It should never be about pride or money, but about the dogs!

The history of Ciukci could have been written with golden letters if we do consider the outstanding and even legend dogs which have written their names in our hearts, but it was not only this.........it was written with a lot of sacrifice, ...work, sweat and many, many tears. Obviously also witha very big economy´s investment.
Precisely my passion for the dogs comes from my infancy, as far in my house there were always dogs as a Boxer, Dobberman, Pyrenee´s Mastin and specially German Shepherds.
It has been always our objective and obsesion to breed beautiful, helthy and with a good temperament dogs. Although who considers himself as a breeder must know that from time to time the genethics can produce some kind of diseases which are wellknown for all of us.
This, does not depend of oneself but of the pedigrees which carry with it in them.
I have been always very much conscient that when I was breeding I was handling something which doesn´t belong to us, as it is the nature. With this tremendous respect I always moved, and I do thank God everyday for allowing to share this His Kingdom. This is writed in "The Breeding at Ciukci" in my website.
This task, although it be very well done, unfortunatly there is always somebody, who...... for the reason that we all know, wants to make damage and even if possible to destroy it.
There is as an example, a very little "person" named SHARON OSHAROW, with a kennel name KRISTARI, who is acting now as the worse of the delinquents.
I have invested since the very begining more than 100.000 dollars in her kennels, and happened that in my last purchase of "Joker" we did postponed the payment of the half of the price of the dog, which was shipped to me.
Well, after some time this personage travels from USA to Spain and to Mallorca, and profiting a moment in which I was not in the kennels, she steals the dog and scapes with him.
But not enough satisfied with it, and also taking profit of my absence, thus the kennels were not clean yet, started to picture them the way they were, obviously dirty bfore cleaning, and also she pictured my "old INKY", my first Show female who is still alive with 16 years on her. Half blind, half deaf but asking for her food everyday. It must have been the image that Sharon wanted to give of my dogs with this picture, surely she would have to put to sleep INKY much earlier.
It is sad, lamentable and coming from someone with a very small personal cathegory
Now, each one can think for which reason she has done something like that? There must be a reason.........
Maybe instead of doing such a things she should take care of about her breeding, about her front angles, ears set and in too many cases about her tails.
The result of her action known as "ARBITRARY EXECUTION OF ONES OWN RIGHT" is legaly considered as a crime, and today she is prosecuted by the police to take her in front of a Justice Trial, to respond economichally of the money I had already paid, for the fault acting as a thief with the corresponding fine and with posibilities to be taken to prison.
I only hope God makes justice.

THIS IS A WARNING TO EVERYBODY, FROM SOMEBODY WHO KNOWS HER VERY WELL, BE AWARE, SHARON OSHAROW IS ONLY INTERESTED IN THREE THINGS.....MONEY, MONEY and MONEY.
